Day 5: All things construction

Today was a great day on the work site.  We had a lot to do since we had rain yesterday afternoon, so we all went straight to work.

Here is the crew getting ready to tackle the day ahead - Mariah, Zoe, Kylie, Logan, Courtney, Cassie, Michael, Dave and Sam (Daniel is behind Courtney)

We started off finishing our concrete reinforcements...

This was truly a team effort as it involved many steps.  First cutting the rebar - Zoe and Courtney...

Then bending the rebar into squares (20 cm X 20 cm) - Cassie and Michael

Then putting them all together with measurements, wire and tightening - Sam, Kylie, Judith (our Northern Irish friend) & LeeAnn as well as Logan, Mariah, Jack (another Northern Irish friend) and Daniel

Here is the team placing a finished reinforcement onto the second story.

But reinforcements were not the end of our day.  We also dug a trench, and filled a trench using unconventional techniques such as mud baseball - Dave and Michael

Diggers and fillers were Mariah, Michael, Daniel, Dave and Sam

Here are the others watching the diggers and fillers - the smart group!

Plus, we had a women's rebar bending team - Mariah, Logan, Geta (Habitat volunteer), as well as Kylie and Zoe

So as you can see a lot was accomplished today.  Before we sign off we need to quickly acknowledge
Courtney for her willingness to get dirty, Sam for making sparks fly and Daniel for taking part in every single project today on the work site.  You all really building hope!
